Augmented Reality - Roomscale
Smartphone-based AR apps typically use computer vision to recognize markers like QR codes or images and overlay assigned geometry. In this case, Vuforia Engine's Area Target feature was used to create a room-scale AR experience. A 3D scan of the room, generated via a smartphone's LiDAR sensor, was processed by Vuforia’s Area Target Generator to produce a Unity package. This package, imported into Unity with the Vuforia plugin, allowed the AR app to overlay geometry onto the scanned room. Unlike traditional markers, this AR experience was tied to the specific location, making the space itself central to the experience.
