About the Project
Interactive Alchemy is an immersive experience created using Touch Designer, Leap Motion controller and Touch OSC. Based in classical futurism, the experience transports the participant into an alchemist’s lab where they are invited to play with a workstation full of magical apparatus and perform medieval alchemy using modern digital technologies.

The Virtual 3D space
The Virtual space was designed using the in Sketchup 3D and rendered in Twinmotion which was then exported as a movie file and looped in touch designer. Inside touch designer the interactive visual was masked onto the black arch surface.
Alchemy Workstation
The alchemy table featured a Leap Motion controller and an iPad, positioned alongside a potion recipe.
Scattered across the table were curious objects associated with alchemy and the occult, seamlessly extending the digital alchemist's lab into the physical world. These objects could be picked up and interacted with, enhancing the sense of realism and immersion in the experience.
A Potion Recipe as Instructions for Interaction
The instructions helped in creating a guided experience which ended with a sense of completion. It also enabled containing the design of interactions in alignment with world building.
Interactive Potion-Making Experience
Throughout history, alchemists believed that matter could be transformed into any shape or form, a mystical process deeply rooted in magic and symbolism. In modern times, technology has evolved into a form of magic, where a simple hand gesture or a swipe on a screen can create and transform digital elements instantly. This interactive experience merges the ancient mysticism of alchemy with the enchantment of modern technology.
The core of this experience is the art of potion-making—a practice traditionally associated with alchemy. Here, the participant steps into a hybrid lab where the physical and virtual worlds blend seamlessly. Upon activating their virtual workspace, participants follow a simple recipe to create their own magical potion.
